Patagonia: departure of Rose Marcario, C.E.O.

Rose Marcario
Last September, Rose Marcario (as C.E.O.) received the Entrepreneurial Vision Award, on behalf of Patagonia at the United Nations Champions of the Earth Gala. She has now announced that she is stepping down. It is a surprising move from the top at Patagonia, the American outdoor retailer. Marcario joined the firm in 2008 and moved to be C.E.O. in 2013. Doug Freeman (General Manager) will take over whilst a permanent replacement is appointed. During Marcario’s tenure, Patagonia experienced the most prosperous period in a 47-year history, with revenues quadrupling since she joined the company. She contributed to making B-Corp (a non-profit organization) a grassroots business set to represent people and the planet, not just for profit.
